Far off in Castle Colon Resides the Grand Wizard of Carnell In his crystal ball he can see The Knights of Passions jousting for Romance For the honor and for the glory He zeroes in on Sir Sven Who has thrown down this challenge And as he does, he could almost swear That the Brave Knight of Romance Is laughing at him! "Great Wizard of Carnell!" Sir Sven shouts "I dare thee this joust to join!" The other Knights stop and gasp in wonder Has Sir Sven lost his mind? For the Great Wizard of Carnell holds much power Only a fool would dare call him out In a puff of smoke and a clap of thunder The Great Wizard himself appears "Sir Sven, thou shalt regret thy dare!" Clad in his flowing robes of blue The Grand Wizard of Carnell took his staff in hand Turned to the crowd and began: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |

Wizard's Warning Though similes and metaphors are tools of magic's quest, misread they are but bitter swords and fools of magic's test. Cast not thy gauntlet to the ground and challenge not the rest, for tales of courage yet abound within the hero's breast. Tread light the path of knightly yore, in shiny metal dressed, for love is lost in passion's lore when 'vantage most is pressed. Raise not thy hand in bitter ire, or even in fair jest. Fair love's ne'er won in heat of fire and seldom by the best. Lay down the weapon in thine hand, allow yon heart to rest. For love and battle ne'er can stand beneath the lunar crest. Seek not, my friend, to win fair heart as prize for being best. Such tourney's lost before you start and she's left unimpressed. Though similes and metaphors are tools of magic's quest, the only way to spell those doors - is as her bidden guest. |

Oh Sven ... taking on the Wizard with poetic challenge ... you are quite brave! Well said, as I see you've called him out ... It appears that Ron has penned you quite a thought-provoking reply! Done with shear majestry I might add ... shall there be more, or does the message within lay rest to the challenge? Wonderful writing dear sirs, and so nice to "see" you Ron! Best wishes, /Kit |

"Seek not, my friend, to win fair heart as prize for being best. Such tourney's lost before you start and she's left unimpressed." ROFL!!! too funny and very right on! Sven... maybe you should've challenged him to a game of cards or something, instead... hehe... but Ron's probably pretty good at that, too, come to think of it. Challenge overly surpassed, Ron! ![]() |

A noble knight, the gallant Sir Hirsute, No enemy this warrior shan't quell. To fell his foe each day was his repute His kingdom of grand chivalry did tell. 'Tis said his ventures span til googol's end In stalwart sentinel at Sturgeon stance, Deflaying looming giants who portend Minacity to Hirsute's sprightly lance. This valiant knight, a full brigade of one, Foreboding sword, he and his mighty steed El Ronicante bear battle cries 'til dawn. No count of peril does brave Hirsute heed. ![]() |

His warning giv'n, the Grand Wizard departed as he had come And when he disappeared, the assembled crowd gasped in amazement For they had not expected the Grand Wizard to appear so quickly Nor to dispense such words of wisdom. . . and of warning The Brave Knights took to heart the words the Grand Wizard spoke For he spoke with the wisdom of the ages. . . and of life A life that had know much joy, and much sorrow A life that would indeed outlast them all, until the life to come. . . My thanks to thee Grand Wizard for thy words so powerful and so true. . . reminding us all that the only words that will open a Woman's heart. . . are hers. . . The challenge continues. . . --------------------------------------------------------------- That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |

Thanks, one and all, for the kind words (and, in Nan's case, for the beautifully poetic albeit erudite ones). And thanks to you, Sven, for giving me the impetus to throw a few rhymes together - something I get far too little opportunity to do these days. ![]() |
