" To sleep " Clock it ticks a deathly sound Night with darkeness all around I sit inside my vacant mind Passing thoughts of other time Sleep it does avade me now Never do I feel allowed To close my eyes in silence fair Instead my eyes in frozen stare Tiredness creeps upon my lone My life inside my holy stone To close my mind is what I wish To get to sleep with not a glitch Awake in a fresh new morn Without the feeling of withdrawn No help no pill no things to cure The lack of sleep the nights allure So if in dark you are awake Think of me and light it take Dream of wonderful things to share And awake in morn no care |

I mean where is the time to sleep when there is so much poetry to read. I have noticed a lot of poems on insomnia and I think "Passions" is to blame. Oh you think poetry is innocence but it is highly addictive. I am close to ODing. Whiskey, a wonderful poem. you perfectly captured that sense of restlessness. < !signature--> ------------------------ "Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time". Baltimore Grotto "To be nobody-but-yourself-in a world which is doing its best night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting." E.E Cummings. "Art is a lie which makes us realise the truth." Pablo Picasso "We Irish are too poetical to be poets, we are a nation of brilliant failures" Oscar Wilde ----- [This message has been edited by brian madden (edited 06-18-2000).] |

I seem to be a night person myself, My mind cannot turn off from thoughts of thinking, planning, creating...I just can't sleep, I need something to soothe me to sleep I guess! Enjoyed your poem! |

~Whiskey,...aahh,...you have perfectly described my nights,...seems to be a lot of people's around here. This here line is so right on..."Instead my eyes in frozen stare"...that is me. "To close my mind is what I wish"....for all that crap running around in there is what's keeping me up. I have no hold on it. Great expression here...it fit me to a "T". Thanks for sharing. *Peace. |

I have absolutely had the most sleepless week of my life this last week. So I can relate totally..I worry, I toss, I turn, I refuse to watch the clock, I make mental lists, I toss, I sigh, Geesh! great poem girl! ~Heather |
