Holding Gramma's Hand On her lap when I was small hand in hand we'd sit My dearest Gramma I did say It's such a perfect fit. Too big for her lap we'd sit side by side Still hand in hand we'd be. My dearest Gramma I did say Will you always hold hands with me? Older yet still together we'd share stories and sip on tea. My dearest Gramma I did say Your hands seem frail to me. Sitting beside her, her hand held tight At her bedside where she lay. "It's time to pass her hand to me" I heard the angel say. With heavy heart and holding tight This hand I'd come to love. My dearest Gramma I did say They've come from up above. Dear Angel, her hand I give you Hold it ever so gently. For someday I will come to ask of you To pass it back to me. |

This is so beautiful and touching, it brought a tear to my eye. My Grandma pased away 4 years ago, and this reminded me of her. The last stanza is absolutely beautiful and a perfect ending. Thanks for posting this! I am sorry about the loss for your Grandma, but, I am sure that she's smiling down from heaven, very proud of you and your talent as a poet! Take care, Melissa Honeybee |
