Inspiration I’ve given thought to human minds The rich aesthetic gifts it finds The products of our own creation Born of inspiration Who brings the mountain waters out From where do words of wisdom spout What spring pours forth imagination The font of inspiration From where do poet juices flow Their place of origin unknown Ideas are not made out of ink And pens know not to think Some say there is a poet’s muse A little myth that some confuse With poet’s pure imagination Born of inspiration A simple sunflower may inspire A painting to be long admired Sometimes a great imagination Is simple inspiration As for me, my verse comes from The dreams I’ve dreamed, the deeds I’ve done The love I’ve given and received And that which I believed Imagination plays a part But inspiration’s from the heart For if you’re always true to self A poet’s muse is just himself But now and then one might concede The value of a sunflower seed Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 06-16-2000).] |

Imagination plays a part But inspiration’s from the heart For if you’re always true to self A poet’s muse is just himself But now and then one might concede The value of a sunflower seed ....... WOW, WOW, WOW ....... An artist is by his subject, inspired, A poet by a mere thought, A devotee is by God Himself, inspired, Life's many a battle fought. People from a kingdom majestic, inspired, by the Emperor so noble, so fair 'Tis a pleasure ultimate to be inspired, What pleasure it must be for its source, rare. ...... look what you inspired Liz, and you are an inspirational source so rare... regards, sudhir |

Hi Liz, Good morning, this is wonderful, someone told me they hoped I never got published because then the whole world would know of me personally, I think the truth about life should be told, maybe its done in a form of poetry but its based in fact for the most part. As far as sunflowers I have about forty of them just about ready to transplant in to my garden, I can't wait to see them all bloom and this poem I shall remmeber when I see them. Love, Cerenity |

Liz, this is a beautiful work! It's one of my favorites from you. I especally love the lines: "For if you’re always true to self A poet’s muse is just himself" Thank you for sharing this with us! "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

Liz, this is one of my favourite poems by you. Being a true sunflower lover, I loved how you integrated the beauty of a sunflower in your poem. Very well said and poignant! I hope that all poets read this gem! All verses are perfect, but... My favourite verses are: "A simple sunflower may inspire a painting to be long admired sometimes a great imagination is simple inspiration" "Imagination plays a part but inspiration's from the heart for if you're always true to self a poet's muse is just himself" Take care, Melissa Honeybee [This message has been edited by Melissa Honeybee (edited 06-16-2000).] |
