I have been busy the past day or two,
Making crystal and celtic suncatches,
Threading old glass beads on fishing line,
I have these crafty bursts in patches.

Dylan sat by and handed me the beads,
Saying one day he'd make one himself,
I said we'd have to find a special crystal,
Just for kids, special to only himself.

A shopping day treat is chocolate,
He likes Aussie Yowies for they have a little animal inside,
He chose a red packaged one today,
He was eager to see what he'd find.

After lunch and time for his treat,
We shared the chocolate we two,
And inside the little container,
What would Dylan find? Wish we knew!

And lo and behold a plastic crystal,
With the image of a yowie inside,
He looked at it as thought it were a diamond,
Not the usual Aussie animal you'd find inside..

'Oh Mummy now I have my crystal!'
'I can make a suncatcher just like you!'
'And I'll do it all myself!'
'Without any help from you!'

I went and found some more fishing line,
And tied this precious gem up nice and tight,
Dylan had chosen the beads he was to use,
His face was all alight.

He slowly threaded them on,
Plenty of blue for that is his favourite colour,
He did it all by himself,
Just with some instruction from his Mother.

Then I secured the other end,
And how it sparkled in the light,
And we proudly hung it in his room,
Where the breeze would set in slowly in flight.

Sometimes children's wishes do come true,
In the most surprising ways,
And having and making his own little suncatcher,
Made today a special day.
