I see you know how to put a bottle to your lips and sip that cold dark sweet nectar. I see you know how to light a cigarette and, with it burning, suck in the smoke and needed rush of exhausted pain. I see you know the answer doesn't lie in the sun or the rain. Nothing falling or lit in the sky. I see you know there's no answer at all, it seems. I see you know the beauty of an insect spinning in the light, wings like mirror teardrops pressed to thin plastic and veins. I see you understand that love is just a word caught in flame. I see you know the worst thing to know is the truth: the thing you need to hear the most. I see you've handled many mistakes. Your arms speak in hard lost trails; your eyes blare in their blindness; your mouth and lips form that perfect seal around things, but with that quaver, that little bit of quavering near your lip. Lost in smoke. Look up. I want to see you. |

Oh my...this is just---well, suffice to say, I was just about to post a poem--theme being that every perfect thing had been written-and what do I see? This absolutely perfect thing, newly written (?) anyhow...more paper for the fire now, Mike...lol. Truly truly touching... |

Very well done bsquirrel! I read this a few times, each time somehow interpreting it a little differently, but each time a sigh at the end ... loved that ending! Best wishes, /Kit |
