I Died a Death I died a death but stayed alive In phantoms likeness I survive Alive, yet dead, I walk alone In rooms with walls as cold as stone I lived a life and dreamed a dream And loved the life you lived with me Then in the whisper of a breath You left, and then I died a death Though dead I live, I cannot part From love that lives within my heart Elizabeth Santos |

Elizebeth, very moving, simple yet so concrete. Alive, yet dead, I walk alone In rooms with walls as cold as stone. One can almost hear the ehco of slow footfalls through the chambers of a heart lost in shadow. Excellent read, EWDrake |

Elizabeth, Very powerful poem you have written. And, a very deep love this must have been. |

Thank you for your comments. This poem was written to mean the saddness you feel after the one you love walks out and leaves you, as happened to me when I was young. I didn't feel alive for a period after that. It has nothing to do with death but was meant to convey grief. Liz Now that I read this poem over, a stronger interpretation could be that the loved one died and left the other lifeless. I can see how it could easily be read that way Liz [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 07-30-2000).] |

Another powerful piece from you. I do not know how you do it. They seem to come so easy for you and each and every one of them so beautiful and so emotional. Well done Liz. |

Yes, I know this feeling...when love leaves it feels like death, even though the person is not dead. Very well put and the emotional impact comes across in the way you have written it. |

The death of love or the death of a loved one produce the same feelings of grief. You've conveyed that well in this, Elizabeth. Denise |
