Vegetarian No More: Meat Lover's Revenge! (Not for the Politically Correct) Once I was a vegetarian But I missed my pork and beef And never seemed to be satisfied By tofu, twig or green-of-leaf So I came back to my natural ways Defying health advisors Trading the roots and bamboo shoots For fleshy appetizers Bring me a dish of lamb or Fish Fried frog legs? Oh man I wish! Marinated mammal or twice-baked camel Quail or snail or crocodile tail Ostrich steaks are so delicious Served with duck on china-dishes. Vienna Sausage or potted meat, Goose or Moose, COME ON LET'S EAT! Food to satisfy the bloodthirsty incisor Caribou to barbecue quenched by cold Budweiser Where animal autopsies permeate the air... Cavemen cooking spare-ribs with not a rib to spare! A Feast of roasted beast or blackened pheasant; Twice as nice with whole-grain rice and oh so pleasant Pleasant… living off the land … Like Sioux & Cherokee. Natural… Hunt and prey and trap …Just as it should be! Once I was a Vegetarian With alfalfa sprouts galore Reborn, at last I see the light… I’m Vegetarian No More! (I figured this one might ruffle a few feathers, but it is (Intended to be) all in good fun, a sassy-rebuttal to a good friend in Seattle, (Who picks on me and my New Orleans Cajun/Creole Cooking) I do not however promote or encourage harming endangered species or hunting for mere sport! Bottom line... this is the opening poem for my new cookbook of the same title.) [This message has been edited by Toddles (edited 07-30-2000).] |

hehe. This is great, Todd...not sure about the twice-baked camel but I'll go for all the rest! Had a girl one time that sculpted 2 pounds of tofu into a turkey for Thanksgiving! That cured me! I hope you put a chapter in your cookbook about the Joys of Vienna Sausages.....great fun writing! |
