An unborn yet beating heart, yearning to live Asked not to be created, but with love to give Snuffed out in a second’s time, forever gone Punished for a crime of passion, a helpless pawn A mother-not-to-be because of a choice That most would not have courage to voice Forever living with the pain of unknown All the “what ifs?,” the seed is sown A politician, of whose concern is none Except for the elections to be won Rhetoric about morals and responsibility When the right belongs to you and me Standing before the final judge in the end Right or wrong and choices to defend The “righteous” and the unborn will have no say But the one who felt the pain will have her day Love one another-let God do the worrying, Rodney |

You captured the serious tone of such a topic wonderfully and in a few stanzas painted a more global picture. Very nice. Opinions are like bellybuttons: eveybody's got 'em and they're good for nothing. |

Highly controversial topic, you are brave to take it on at this juncture. If you are American, you know what battles may lie ahead on the subject of abortion. Bush's running mate is very well known for his stand, he voted against it even in cases of incest, rape, and when a woman's life is at risk. The current laws have been in place since the 70's, and it will be interesting to watch the future unfold You've captured an angle of this subject very well. Thank you Corinne and excellent reading of my piece. I am personally opposed to the act unless it is to save the mother's life...but it is NO ONES business except for the mother...I often wonder if women were in charge and they decided that it was morally adventageous to castrate men after the age of 25 if these self-rightous pols would be willing to let the government make personal health decisions for them. I also find it funny that the same pols that oppose abortion are more than willing to put an adult to death in the electric chair...just when does a life stop being sacred?...when that unwanted child takes another's life? Rodney...what an amazing coincedence...you and I both posting works on this subject...mine is called " Always Other Choices" so even our titles are close. I think abortion is not the answer, but i would never dream of forcing my belief on others. never say never |
