HEART’S SILENT BLOWS..... Linda Munday A battle raged within two hearts in upper-cuts and hooks A silent fight with blows of hate and sometimes dirty looks The fisted hand that jabbed and punched was made of beating flesh The heartless strikes that cut and bruised to pulpy bloody mesh So pretence found a place to dwell to try to stop the blows But both hearts knew in silent fear the evidence on show No towel to throw into the ring to end the fight was found And beaten both the fighters saw their own blood on the ground Then wounded each they made their ways to corners for some care But wipes of brow eluded them and they sat alone on chairs And salty tears stung in the cuts as their hearts wrung wet with pain The battle fought, the fight was done, and neither of them gained Their hearts will have their needs unfilled but will remain alive They’ll never find the needed peace and do more than survive The ref had called the count of ten on both in bloody draw And painful blows remain until, both face fear square on jaw |

simply wonderful. You found such an accurate way of describing the pain and fighting between people and illustrated excellently what they get for it. |

Great metaphor, linda...I really liked the flow and the theme of this one...and the empty feeling of a "draw"...superb! |
