WORD GAMES Perhaps it lies in choice of word, Or what tone may inflect... Amid these four-walled catacombs Where all is circumspect. With stress on muted syllables What secret songs are sung? Why speakest thou in parables, What riddle binds thy tongue? What serpent writhes beneath the skin? What star yet blinds the eyes? What black and white "remember when" Turns silence into lies? I just can't put my finger on This enigmatic lapse. Gossamers must yet linger on, Unnoticed there - perhaps... If but through an insightful glean I carry as a curse. Oh, not to see what these words mean -- The games beneath the verse. Michael Anderson |

Well now - How can we play the game if we don't know the rules, eh?..Quite an "enigmatic lapse" indeed... |

Michael; wow, mystery and no clues. beautiful and so different! Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. ellie LeJeune |

"If but through an insightful glean I carry as a curse. Oh, not to see what these words mean -- The games beneath the verse." Such quizical thoughts Michael, and penned with wonderful finesse. A bit of a circle here, as I seemed to read into your poem those same words you've so mystically written about. I'm in a bit of a looped mind-spin! Loved it! Best wishes, /Kit |

Nan - not knowing the rules is half the fun! ellie, a mystery, yes, but there are clue's a plenty for those who dare to delve... Kit, Indeed, a circle and thus the title, "word games". SEA, Exactly! What we see or what we "think" we see is truly never more than "our own" perception of an overall greater picture. For the most part - we, speaking for all of humanity in general - as if I have that right ...LOL, choose to see what we want, (i.e. NEED), to see. Janet, as always, much lies between the lines... Can this be attributed to poetic license I wonder? Sharon, glad I could make you think a little... Dr. Moose - Were those keys on a bullwinkle keyring? I think I somehow wound up with them... LOL Doreen, always a pleasure - thank you, my friend, as well. and thank you all for the kind replies. Michael |

I hope there's something good around the corner if you're not already there and that it's one gorgeous angel instead of a serpent leaving marks unfit to bear... Here's hoping.. HUSG |

Sweetie, I'm afraid I can't give you an objective opinion on this one, since I know the inspiration behind it ... but I will say, as you have said to me, that sometimes we see what we want to see ... or are afraid to see, as the case may be. Hugs, sweets -- the only thing you need to see from me is that I love you ... --Me YOUR LIFE IS A TEST It is only a test ... If this were your Actual Life, you would have been given better instructions! |
