Empty glasses drink from empty souls, smoking cigars packed with content. Ah the satisfying smell of a lost dream. The child has grown up and favors the abandonment of childhood games. Adult now, with no room for goals, he surrounds himself with things. A sixteenth century vase here. A rare handmade Indian relic there. And only the best of the trophies are displayed, those defining him as a distinguished member of a some club, who’s name he can’t remember. Now happy in a life that was never his, he smokes his cigar, takes a shot of brandy, and jumps from the twenty-seventh floor of his successful executive high-rise apartment < !signature--> Just an effigy to be disgraced, to be defaced. Your need for me has been replaced. [This message has been edited by Effigy (edited 07-29-2000).] |

Your "ending" here took me by surprise, I'll admit, as I thought I knew where this was going. A striking, solemn piece of writing. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

"And Richard Corey one calm summer night went home and put a bullet through his head'. -------------------- Also reminded me of Richard Corey, which is one of my favorites as well. This is excellent and so true of the world today. Great Job! --You can either take me as I am...or you can watch me as I go.-- |
