My Lady

It's far away from Friday
in the nearness of her eyes
Now she's laughing running dancing
through the meadows
Her memory's brought her back
and for this day her sorrow dies
as she flies again
with songs of sonnet's sparrows

Her feet are finding steps
she thought they'd long ago forgot
and her chest is filling deep
with sea and clover
Her dampened dress is flying,
sheer white cotton for her wings
and the fiddle, flute and
whistle are her lovers

Her suffering has no place
beside the heathers and the sea
so it stays behind and
cannot call to claim her
while my lady, free to frolic
through her moorland memories
lives and loves again where
no one dares to tame her

I'm not sure I understand it like I should but that hardly matters because the writing is superb.......
"with songs of sonnet's sparrows."

"Her dampened dress is flying,
sheer white cotton for her wings
and the fiddle, flute and
whistle are her lovers."

Little nuances of Billy Shakspeare style with overtones of present times of course..

Love it!

M.A., naturally it would please me to have a poem in the book, if possible, but will have to wait and see. I certainly thank you for your positive response though.

ethome, as a poetry reader, I rely on both my cognitive and emotional response to a poem to tell me whether or not I enjoy it. That you enjoyed this one enough to respond so favorably is my reward, as a writer. Thank you, sincerely.

Martie, as always I thank you for taking time to deliver a smile with your sweet response.

When sorrow dies and and suffering cannot follow... your poem gives a few such glorious moments as it takes flight! Beautiful!

I love everything about this...and it did give me that cognitive response that you speak of...for a time I felt a freedom, inside...felt so good, I think I will go read it again...

Another one for the book. So beautifully you've written this in flowing phrases. Your poetry is so delicate, yet powerful.
Another amazing piece

the imagery and poetic grace come from your god given gift ...
the emotions can only come from living them..

"Her feet are finding steps
she thought they'd long ago forgot"

AND also living tru them ...in spite of them ...because of them ...
you frolic divinely "My Lady"
cant help but smile when reading this one...
take care sweet poet

"with songs of sonnet's sparrows". . .

Let the sun shine again in your meadow, gentle one
There through the fields of heather, let your heart run
Let joy and love once again fill your days
Thank you for sharing with us in so many ways. . .

Claire, there just aren't enough words for me to tell you how much I enjoy this. . . so I will just say. . . beautiful, absolutely beautiful. . .
