Tears of an Angel...or...Little Boy Lost |

Scattered toys left in the sandbox Trucks and shovels rocks and sticks Sad reminders of a small boy Never again to imagine here. Rusted swings left in the backyard Blowing sadly in the breeze No bright laughter wakes the neighbors Early on hot summer mornings. Unmade bed and dirty Nikes Feathers and birds nests all around Treasures gathered by this small boy Dusty and neglected, useless now. On that last day he was walking Gazing at clouds up in the sky Seeing puppies, ponies and indians All the things a small boy dreams When the car came out of nowhere Too fast to miss the dreaming boy The driver drunk and out of control Unaware of the lives he so instantly changed. Now the angels up in heaven Shed their tears on the people below Saying goodbye to the small boy Wondering how they can ever let go. Oh, Paula~ My heart goes out to anyone who must encounter this tragedy. God, when will it ever stop ? Too many little angels ... too many stupid, idiotic, irresponsible drunk drivers. Not fair ! 'No bright laughter' My heart cries with yours. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Paula, I have no words to find in my heart for this poem that you have written, only tears from my eyes. This is so touching, I'm voting for this. Thanks for writing it. |

A heartfelt read Paula ... How do we express our condolences to those that have lost a child or loved one to a drunk driver ? ........ although I think we would have no problem finding the words to describe the driver Rex |

Senseless, tragic, all that and more. I do not have the proper words to reply to this but I can bet many will shed a tear with this one. Your pen serves you well. |

Oh, I'm crying here. Such tragic heartbreak expressed in this. I can't express how sorry I am for your pain, there are not enough words. Gentle hugs to you! Gossamerwings ;) |

I confess, it made me cry too; same thing happen when I was 12 to my 11 year old first cousin back in Austin/1981! (& it happened on his birthday)I have ZERO sympathy for these intoxicated drivers!!! As always, you have woven a GREAT word-tapestry Paula! You have my VOTE! |

No matter where a person lives they are affected by this terrible crime..drinking and driving.. this is an very touching piece Paula and I am glad you posted it. well written and gets a very valuable point across. I know in one country in the world I think it might be somewhere in South America if some one is killed as a result of anothers drinking and driving then the guilty party is executed. After all, who put the liquor in the hand of the person who is drinking. If science has proven that a person is impaired after so much consumption then who is the guilty party if such results are public knowledge... I have two close friends that lost their parents to a drunk driver.....the penalties should be stiffer, not that I am promoting execution but something close!! |

The tragedy of this piece is very well conveyed, and elicits saddness and anger. A poignant poem, indeed Liz |

I have to say this one really choked me up! It really is sad that people can't be responsible when they drink. They have no thought as to what they're doing or what could happen. Teens who have been caught drinking and driving have been sent by the judges out to the ER rooms to see first hand the things that can occur. I think that's a great idea! As maybe it will actually make some of these younger generations stop and think of their actions before a tragedy strikes. |

Paula my heart goes out to you and your family...those drunk drivers think it will never happen but it does and way to often. We have a slogan here in australia for drink drivers and that is...drink and drive you're a bloody idiot..I think idiot is quite mild Hugs to you Tracie~ Love is the life of the soul... It is the harmony of the universe |

First let me say that this wasnt written from personal experience. I was sitting in front of my puter ( in Passions of course ) and the words just flowed out. GossamerWings...this is something i feel very strongly about...thank you Juls...I am sorry that anyone has to suffer this pain...thanks for reading. Toddles...your vote means a lot to me...thank you Zion...when memories are all thats left they are doubly precious. Sudhir...thank you my friend I always value your trips to my work. James...you just never know do you? ethome...we do need much tougher laws in this country. T McCoy...I can too but my momma always said not to say things like that Zion...to have you come back is such an honor...thank you. Elizabeth...thank you WhtDove...its not just kids its anyone who drinks and drives never say never |

I'm pleased to hear that this was NOT a personal experience... and that you've such sympathy for those who've been less fortunate... As much as we don't always see it, people today are actually being more and more cautious about mixing drinking and driving... Unfortunately their motivation is usually more to avoid personal ramifications than to avoid hurting others.. But whatever it takes that works... Let's keep on locking them up - Perhaps one day they'll be sober enough to learn.... |
