Dying to Forget

(An arguable defense of suicide after the death of a friend in 1984, Maybe he is finally happy)

Barefoot child to chaos born
You curse the rose, you kiss the thorn
Your naked eyes see night intense
And praise his lies with strange incense
Your hunger insatiable, hopes exiled
This planet was no place for you
Oh, gentle barefoot child
Barefoot child in winter born
Go claim your dreams of unicorn
Words wait beyond forked tongues
As loves pure essence fills your lungs
Your life is yours to give or take
Dying to FORGET, in sleep you will wake
Know that Hell is where we now dwell
On this Earth schizophrenic and wild
It's time you came in from the snow

Welcome homeā€¦ my barefoot child

Depressing, I know but still an honest portrait of a particular time in my life!

Oh, this was so touching!  I can't imagine the pain that would drive someone to take their own life.  Beautifully penned!!!

Toddles,
I am very glad that I stopped by to read your verse. This was indeed very moving, and I will be back again.

I've come back and read this poem 5 or 6 times now.....this is the first time that I've been able to reply...the first time I was crying to hard to even think straight...each visit has eased that feeling a little.  This is so powerfully intense...You wrote this exquisitely Todd. My sincere hope is that he is now happy and at peace~
