It was the very height of arrogance of ignorance insolense Of thumbing our noses at fate we were the worst offenders pretenders intenders And we knew the road paved with good intentions no yellow bricks or manna from heaven no parting seas no miracles on our path except the one that stared us in the face with searing, scorching, blinding obviation that in this sea of uncertainty two people could within the boundaries of conventional sanity fall insanely Intensely, indelibly in Love And looking at this photo that someone took of us at a party inebriated (high even looking at our eyes) that we had already begun to play out our tragic plot point as bad actors who'd forgotten our lines or even worse still the plot and supposed for some reason that this bit of magic was so commonplace in this cold universe that we could toss it away for the sake of careers we'd both find harsh mistresses in winters rage But the worst folly of all was that mistake most common to youth the impression assumption the postulation of Time Because we thought we had the one thing we did not we lost everything In finding this wayward photo , this slice of time, this frozen memory, when I wasn't even looking for it I've lost it all again Hate is a dead thing. Who of you would be a tomb? -Kahlil Gibran |

you STILL have that photo of us? could you send me a copy? hehe *wink* seriously, LR, very well written!!... funny, how looking back at an old photo of a time past can stir deep emotions and take you on a trip of retrospect |

Tragic how we can have it and lose it all. Good writing here! Corinne |

love this, guess, in the reading, I am lucky to *not* have any of those photos to look back to, I take such bad pictures that I always volunteer to be the one behind the camera instead of in front ...still....the way you take hold of the reader and paint your images is unique, I love your poems |

"indelibly in Love" Local Rebel, a living love abides in the voice of this poem. Thank you. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

Rebel, this speaks intensly of the sadness of the loss that happens to love. I have some of thoes pics to, sometimes I think I should distroy them, but then they are connections and I can't. Great read. Parker |

Wonderful. I can't say much more. I just gives me a chilling feeling. Fantastic. Just an effigy to be disgraced, to be defaced. Your need for me has been replaced. |
