the breeze left footprints across the sand
like a trail of fine lace
it tip-toed over grass dotted dunes
swirled through beach plums
and came to rest in my ears
like a forgotten memory
whispering of stolen, star-lit kisses
and slow dances on a moon-lit floor
murmuring of far-off dreams
and an angel's sigh

the breeze moved on
like an impatient child
to lift and frolic among the clouds
leaving me earthbound
swept up in the footprints of a breeze
though in my heart
I soared too
aloft in crystal skies

Hehehe I have a confession to make, I stole the idea for this poem from a Home Decor magazine! In an article about Eyelet of all things!

Odd where inspiration for poems come from isn't it?
And thanks so much for the replies ya'll, I had hoped I was conveying the image well enough so the reader could FEEL being there along with me

I know what you mean, like on a day when there is a light breeze on the air and you're not taking much notice, when all of a sudden a stronger breeze comes up and affects you directly it seems. It's almost like you are connected to it and it gives a you a lift and you're glad to be alive to take in the freshness of it...My God I'm going on so..great poem by the way....ethome.

these lines are my fav...

whispering of stolen, star-lit kisses

Heather~

Know what I loved about this :

'the breeze left footprints across the sand
like a trail of fine lace
it tip-toed over grass dotted dunes
swirled through beach plums
and came to rest in my ears
like a forgotten memory
whispering of stolen, star-lit kisses
and slow dances on a moon-lit floor
murmuring of far-off dreams
and an angel's sigh

the breeze moved on
like an impatient child
to lift and frolic among the clouds
leaving me earthbound
swept up in the footprints of a breeze
though in my heart
I soared too
aloft in crystal skies'

EVERYTHING !!!
