For more than a century this frame Captures the innocence of my youth And though I no longer have a name Time cannot take away the truth I've fought so many battles in this bloody war I can't recall what it is that I am fighting for This rifle is an extension of my being The dark side of my soul I never knew And it does me good not ever seeing The atrocities that I do Now as I pose for this picture at the close of this war Brother versus brother not so innocent anymore [This message has been edited by wayoutwalt (edited 07-24-2000).] |

Like the old folk song says...where have all the soldiers gone? gone to graveyards everyone..when will we ever learn? no one benefits when young men die never say never |

Have to agree with Paula on this one. Great poem to bring out the end of the innocence (Don Henley) and how it gets captured. |

...and yet...watching the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and the Marine Corps Silent Drill Team this weekend, in honor of our Veterans of the Korean War...and to see the crowds who have not forgotten... I cannot say we were right, neither can I say we were wrong... so all I can say is Thank You, for serving, for giving us one more opportunity to keep our freedom... that is all I can say... Sunny ~~~Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Helen Keller ~~~ When you want to be loved, look within...KRJ |
