Cross My Heart It's my usual night on my way to bed Praying to my God above as I lay my head But on my way as I turned down the lights I couldn't help but notice your picture tonight... The pain in my heart brought me to both my knees Cause I never stopped to look at the man before me I kept running ahead from that old wooden frame Afraid to see your eyes and feel the rain it brings... So, now I am down, Dad, looking up at you So, let me say all the things I've always wanted to You must know that I loved you more than words can say And, Dad, you could have had my heart- any day... Cross this heart of mine from which you made I promise to love you forever from so far away I want you to know now what a blessing you've been My father, my whole world and my most kindest friend... I almost forgot that look you held in your eyes And just staring at them I slowly die inside Look at me, Dad, I can't turn away at all I'm down from the power of a memory hung here on my wall... You have never known what I felt for you, Dad You were the gold that only I was lucky to have And you were every color of a rainbow that has ever been seen And cross my broken heart, Dad, you were everything to me... I can feel the year that you and I have lived apart With looking at this black and white picture that's stolen my heart And while a million tears fall to the floor below They say I miss you, Dad, more than you'll ever know... So, cross my heart and with the sign of my hand Know I'll be back someday and kneeling again But until I'm stronger, Dad, and I can stand the rain I leave my love to the photo in that old wooden frame...
