Olympic Athlete

From little on you've had this dream
to be the very best.
To try and try and try again
for the mark above the rest.

With patience, love, encouragement
from your parents and your friends,
You've come a very long hard way
yet you haven't reached the end.

The trial and tribulations,
the blood, the sweat, the tears,
The pleasures you have gone without
throughout these many years.

The time has come to test your strength.
Your story is now told.
Of how you strained and pushed yourself
to achieve that precious gold.

As you stand upon that pedastal
with that mark above the rest
You're proud to be an American
and to have done your very best.

(this is for all of us who strive to reach our dreams and goals in life)

This is excellent and the tribute is one that all can find pleasure in.  You should think about sending it to the Olympic committee.  Welcome to Passions and I look forward to reading more of your works.

Kathryn~
Welcome to our family.

What a neat poem to bring tribute
to those who are champions for just
getting to this event of the Olympics.

Hope you enjoy your stay with us.

My calling before me, let quill be my offering;
For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive.
