I see the man on the corner under the streetlight, flower stems and briefcase in his hands. He's been away on business, again, and she closed her door on the roses. His business is his mistress and you know how that can be. His time is short and so now are his roses. He left the petals in her doorway. He looks at his watch, and I wonder why he's still holding the stems. He has a plane to catch and his time is drawing near. A taxi arrives...he disappears. As the driver pulls away, out go the stems. I look closer and to my surprise there is one rose with its petals in place. It's mine...or is it? To love or to love not, who is to say. The mistress or the lover is just a flower away. Gem |

Gem~ Enjoyed this little piece - 'she closed her door on the roses.' Good line that drew the picture well. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
