On Flying

Tormented are the oceans
Spellbound by the moon
Earth’s rotating axis
Turning time too soon.

Gravitating to the astral
Eclipsing all we know
Mysteries perpetually locked
Inside this celestial show.

What lies beyond we’ve pondered
Since human life transpired,
Allotting human qualities -
Shapes philosophy inspired.

But now many moons have come
Without a glance toward sky
Obsessions lying within self,
We’ve forgotten how to fly.

Corinne~
Well .... you've certainly got those
thoughts 'flying' to the page.

This is pretty ...

'Gravitating to the astral
Eclipsing all we know
Mysteries perpetually locked
Inside this celestial show.'

And this is kinda sad ...

'But now many moons have come
Without a glance toward sky
Obsessions lying within self,
We’ve forgotten how to fly.'

I soar every day ...
if only in my mind.
Love ya'

Too bad some people grow up and never remember how to spread their arms out and pretend to fly either! Nicely written. I enjoyed this.

Corinne,
I read this and I wonder what you had said. Then it hit me, as we really have forgotten how to fly. Very meaningful and very nice.

Thanks, Marge,  I know, I KNOW I should have written (except for Marge!) LOL

Thanks, Poet deVine, I guess it's kind of a celestial version of stopping to smell the roses.

Thank you, Bill, that's exactly what I meant!

Love this C....

it does fly...

this in particular grabbed me:

'Tormented are the oceans
Spellbound by the moon
Earth’s rotating axis
Turning time too soon.'

There are places inside our souls -
that have never been touched.
There are places inside our hearts -
that need to be loved this much.

Sounds like you have not forgotten how to fly.  This is a wonderful piece and yes we should spread our wings everyday and thank you for that sweet reminder.

This poem is outstanding.
The queen of the night is surely honored.
As a Luna lover I say Bravo!

Obsessions lying within self,
We’ve forgotten how to fly
...
Wise thoughts... very counter-productive in provoking the reader to think... you have captivated this reader for sure... Thanks for that, Corinne..

regards,
