I tried to tell you, the words wouldn’t come- Pride? Yes, it must have been pride. I stood, oh, so haughty, as you walked away- And something inside of me died. “I’m sorry”, comes easy, when it’s far too late- A lesson I’ve learned in life’s school. Good things don’t always come to those who wait- There are exceptions to every rule. Nostalgia is foolish, or so I’ve been told- The past is now all I possess. For me there’s no future, I’ve thrown it away- My memories are all I have left. Self-pity? I doubt it. No feelings at all- No joy, no pain, no despair. No plans, no regrets, and no place I must go… I, honestly, really, don’t care. So my aspiriations are to live one more day- And put one day’s journey behind. And see if, in passing, some lesson I learn, Or truth, undiscovered, can find. Visit My Home Page http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/Hompage.html |

Gunslinger, another candid vignette. This one "got" to me. Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

If there is one thing in life that is certain it's that we can always learn something new every day. Another great poem, John. Sad but well written. Denise |
