Memories to Burn

You got under my skin
Thinking you would win
But this game can’t begin

I know you want forever
Still they’re some ties I must sever
My past, a constant endeavor

Of true love you yearn
So you await my tides to turn
But I... have memories to burn

Marina,
"Memories to burn", what a thought, and so true. I did enjoy this poem.

Marina,

I agree, this seems very mysterious.  I like it though.  I think we all have some memories to burn at one time or another.  You must come to term with the past before you can look ahead to the future.  Nice writing.

The past will always get in the way of the future. . . it holds us back. . . sometimes, we burn more than past memories. . . we burn future ones. . .

Excellent. . .

As Tales from the crypt
comes a Marina cryptic,
playful with words,
and with wonderful rhyme...
and I managed to read
these just in time...

regards to you Marina... wonderful writing,

Sometimes it seems that we will never get past all those memories we carry around.  They can steal apart of us that will never see the light of day again.  The title is perfect and the total package is the most precious gift.

Thank you to everyone!!!!

I very much appreciate you all taking the time to read and comment.  There is some good advice in here and to a certain extent, I think most of us can relate this poem to something within themselves.

Thank you again!!!!!

Marina
