Poetry at Work Wish I could find inspiration In drudgery of the workday Just when the tiniest flutter Of creativity stirs - Stress Levels coincide Rising like a river, Workers reacting In a drone of activity Shoveling invented sandbags To thwart the onslaught And poetry slips away Down the stream with the rest Of the forgotten paperwork. © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

It says right in our union contract "poetry comes first and formost" now if I could make that rhyme I'd be a better politician than poet |

Maybe that is why sleep escapes me so much. I need to make up the time that my work takes from my reading and writing of poetry. Beautiful. |

Corinne~ Man, oh man ... you just pounded the nail ! ! This is a brilliant little gem from a brilliant little poet. Love the brevity and the completeness. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
