Sleeping Dog Lie < !signature-->From the window she observed The boy and his frisky hound A child so once reserved Loved that puppy from the pound Inseparable from the start They were the perfect combination Oh, but that dog was smart The boy’s salvation At three o’clock every afternoon The dog would wake from sleep With a look that said, “ be back soon” At the boy’s school they would meet In the forest they would often play That led to the forbidden lake He was told to stay away A rule he would often break Then days turned to years That boy now a man And the old dog has deaf ears Many moons since friendship began Then one very dark night A storm did suddenly rage The swimmer was unable to fight The dog jumped in, despite its age From a cross, she is lead away Fighting tears with a deep sigh They say goodbye this faithful day Yes, today, he will let a sleeping dog lie Marina 2000 It is a blessing to have wings for words, and passion in pen Marina Crossley [This message has been edited by Marina (edited 07-17-2000).] |

Well, I like this quite a bit. My favorite that i have read thus far on these forums, only one that has made me say "ahhh, that's really nice" thus far. It has beauty outside of the words, more so the way it makes you feel. Well done |

Excellent Marina!! This is by far the best thing that you have written. . . the story is wonderful and the use of the line at the end is an excellent stroke. . . Well done!! --------------------------------------------------------- That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |
