Firstly thanks to LD for agreeing to do this poem and have the patience to write with me. It was a great experience writing with such an amazing poet, I had loads of fun ----- My hands have fumbled sending debris of innocent intentions tumbling down upon our once impenetrable temple of friendship. I was always there and there the seeds of disdain were sowed, there to help, there to know it all and there to trip over or bump and fall upon. I saw you naked in all you glorified weakness and knew to touch not to exploit. Like the scrawny vine of ivy slowly creeping up your mighty Oak, I flowered in your shade and sucked upon your smiles and neighbourly deeds. Erupting into full bloom as vicious parasite, a rabid virus flourishing as you were struck slowly into a wilting sapling. The depth of ironic thought patterns blazing away ritualistic doors of harmony, leveled within my own garden of wrath. Cornered by respect and loyalty alone, the carriage was meant to carry all, regardless of severely distracted conditions. Pass the shadow winks knowledge, for within only lies grains of rotten truth, corrupted by honest legions of disgrace. Fold the sheet of time cautiously neat, for tomorrow's buttons are dangerous now, as each premature birth of impulsiveness, rides the roller coaster of blind anxiety. Stray words driven in the din of manly speak and beer stained atmosphere. Through slurred words I betrayed a secret confided from me to you. I wish to banish the past its mistakes and my folly, Maybe it was intentional, maybe I took you for granted. I have tortured myself, sleepless nights and wordless days alone contending with your frozen stares, your refusal to speak. In one foolish act I toppled our house of cards, now you want to set a match to the rumble be done with us. Yes, I was a weed in your fairest garden, you chose to take me in and nurture my sensitivity. It was more than love a kiss was redundant, platonically we bore ourselves flaws and all. I cracked apart, crushed your defenceless heart. I am a fool, a dog a heel a bone, unworthy only human in the grace of you. What calamity of reasons eyeballing led you off on such an idiotic tangent, wavering thoughts of friendship astray? Bite down on the cruel fate of isolation, before you had I, to drain all the sadness, creature of escape runs the fastest mile. Restoration of senses ability still possible, within the calloused mind of inbred innocence. Trolling depths of miseries reaching hand, test the tightrope for it's tautness of reality, seek the shadows of light for true reflection. The doorway is open to this palace of friendship, just wipe the desolation of past upon the foot mat, enter now and forever may our friendship garden grow. I wept the lonely nights forever tied to dismay. Chained to the torture wheel of my own stupidity, I now crawl, accept me lowly upon my knees. The closeness, the gentle intimacies they repelled… not repelled…but frightened me, emotionally inept I failed to make sense of your tender touch whispers of support I looked to you for guidance Not to ravage lust upon your skin. You are the angel to my beggar soul, heal my leprosy so I may walk beside not trail lost in my own indignity. You complete me. Never have I truly left your disdained side feeling a bit fevered distance, not repulse, your thoughts flew wayward then sunk. Hurt tangled within, and played my mind, until the earthquake of knowledge shook, and the honesty of your true nature spoke. The ceiling has fallen upon your battle, plaster pieces crumbled left to sweep away, let me heal you, let me be, your forever friend. Would you lick the salt from my wounds If your compassion I promised not to neglect? Forgiveness is nature's gift to be shared, I give to you forgiveness and compassion. If an angel can cast blessings upon this fool, and in my disorder confide whispering cherished moments then I seek to mirror her glory. You are my human source from you Springs hope eternal, my one true confidant. Take my hand and let us show the world that friendship has a strength of it's own when hearts and minds are willing to listen. by Lost Dreamer and Brian Madden. "Out of sorrow entire worlds have been built Out of longing great wonders have been willed They're only little tears, darling, let them spill" Nick [This message has been edited by brian madden (edited 07-18-2000).] |

although many of the long poems i have read seemed to trail off into oblivion , this kept me engrossed and consumed all the way through . i like both of your work on your own a great deal but as you have put yours heads together you have created something eloquent and beautiful .
