I was just thinking of you
early morning while we lay in bed
I could hear your soft even breathing
and the softness of your hair
as we laid back to back

I turn towards you
placing my arm over your shoulder and
across your chest, you contentedly murmur
"I love you" softly from your dreamy
half sleeping mind

These are the moments
that I think of later in the day
as I happily smile, and when someone
asks my why I'm smiling, I say
"because she loves me"

A real man
kisses his children goodnight
