She drove her car the path she took day after day and wondered how to tell him, everything would change. She knew he'd be shocked and probably a little scared, she knew this could end it and brign such pain her way. The driveway came too soon The engine died too quick The door was too close He answered too fast. His mood looked so good It was all about to change, just like everything else in their lives as soon as she told him. He could tell by her face that something was not quite right, he could tell she had been crying by the redeness in her beautiful green eyes. He let her inside and told her no one was home that she could tell him anything just let him in. She had run through the words a million times in her head, she had known just what to say but nothing came out now. Finally she told him the very thing she had always dread, but first she told him she loved him and he responded with the same. He looked at her with a look that she couldn't ever describe again, a mixture of fear, and uncertainty of not knowing how this would ever end they were too young to be dealing with this they were too young for this change, the were too young to have a child for they were children themselves. He reached out to hold unsure what to say they held on to one another and each said a silent prayer. Hers were of him not leaving her with this alone, His quite different asking for the strength to be a man. They couldn't let go for the fear of reality hitting, scared of what they had done petrified of what they would have to do. And they finally let go not of each other, but of the life they had known for it was time to become adults. "In three words I can sum up everything I learned about life: It Goes On" ~Robert Frost |

There are many signs which say it's time to be adults. This is one of the more painful ones. Good writing.... |

Jeff, some extremely deep thoughts, but they are part of life. Probably the scariest part of life for some people. Actions lead you to have to make decsions that you would rather not make but you have left yourself no choice. Thanks for reading Balladeer: Thanks for the support and for reading |

Becoming more responsible becomes a way of life sooner or later for most. This poem is a good example of how fast it can happen sometimes. The mood is captured very well here. Very enjoyable read. I was locked in from the beginning! |

Sunny1: thanks for the kind words, you are very welcome. I wish that for me this was just a memory of growing up I'm glad you enjoyed it. ethome: Growing up is tough, and it definately is a reality, too close to home soemtimes, and far too fast. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. |
