I look deep into the mirror And see only my reflection I see nothing but fears there And a life that's an infection In time, they say, life will improve To show me it's not all pain But I need to make the first move And step out of this icy rain I just hope they finally realize That I am not here by choice I used to swallow all their lies But now I have my voice I used to run from the dark Thinking I would be my end But now I gladly accept its mark For it is my one and only friend The darkness takes possession And makes me think bad thoughts For every answer I see a question And I doubt all I was taught I look deep in the mirror And wonder who that is I see I wonder what he cries tears for Then I remember that hollow man is me [This message has been edited by Mistikman (edited 07-15-2000).] |

Mistikman, What a familiar prediciment you describe here ... Many have to look that look in mirror's depth ... You've described it here with much tone and class ... I have a piece that follows along these same lines, but want to have others read your deep, dark piece here ... Thanks for sharing ... My calling before me, let quill be my offering; For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive. M.A.M. |

Not hollow, sir. Just think of all the emotions you have..all the creative juices flowing in you! Good to see you writing again. |

Why is it when we look at our own reflections we most often see the darkness, it takes others to show us the light. I would think most of us would have had similar emotions, well done. God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown |

Mistik, this is a wonderfully-written poem. I'm so sorry that you feel such inner pain, and I hope that it will pass. In the meantime, be comforted that you have friends who care.
