Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying

~*Marge Tindal*~

When shadows of the night surround
and heartache comes again to call
Softly into a satin pillow
your tears begin to fall

Dreams won't come
Memories won't go
The night holds
the aches of
long, long ago

Too fresh to forget
Too intense to recall
They come without mercy
invading your all

Not hiding in the shadows
of the night as they should
Why can't they bring smiles
as you hoped they would

Pillow-cased through the night
wrapped in an ache of their own
Don't let the sun catch you crying
Dry your tears before break of dawn

New memories in the making
on the day in shades of umber
Dawning on new dreams
propelling you through your slumber

Don't let the sun catch you crying
For the day should bring you glee
When shadows of the new night come
I trust you'll think of me

You knew the title would draw me in and I wondered if it would be similar to the song...but instead, I've now got the melody to accompany new words...

well done, m'friend...

Marge....

You're capturing all the 'sun' people with this one.....
I thoroughly enjoyed this, but what
caught my eye was the unique layout of the
lines!! (Reminds me of an hourglass.)

        As always.....very nicely done...

Your words become music to my soul......

Powerfully written Marge! Why is it that heartache comes calling so often as you rest your head to sleep? I know this all too well ... beautifully penned!

Best wishes,
/Kit

hehe... It's killing me trying to remember... but I'm singing it in my head and probably will for the rest of the day.... so .... THANKS!

your poem reminds me of the nights i spend thinking of the past things i've done, regretting my losses and  wishing i could have changed certain things. but, like you said in your poem,
"Don't let the sun catch you crying
For the day should bring you glee."

thanks for the inspirational thoughts. they bring a new "light" into my mind.
