I composed this piece as a dedication to my brother-in-law one year after his brother unexpectedly committed suicide ... OF BROTHERHOOD'S FEAST ... The days ahead, bright as we will ever see; Our remembrances, to light and lead our way. Everything good remains, our hurt long forgotten; For strength has returned from its lengthy repose. Why's question never to be answered; Why's answer forever to be questioned. Quest for such and life blurs quickly; Time spent better to echo lessons learned. Man's worth not measured in gold's name; But to carry the torch of memory's kin. A proud name always given from your mouth; For those not knowing, be quick to hear. Others to replace, but not of your blood; Here -- Take your fill of brotherhood's feast. Our strong hands lay claim to your pain and sorrow; So the light of your life be bright as we will ever see. M.A. Miller 05.19.00 My calling before me, let quill be my offering; For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive. M.A.M. |
