IN FOREVER'S DIRECTION ... Telescoping eyes infinity's wealth Gems of our skies, sparkling sparks Spheres in our eyes, reflecting flecks Hurtlings in the dark, crackling cracker Deep as we can imagine, nothing blacker Microscoping eyes infinity's stealth Worms of our bodies, ailing ails Cellular oddities, respecting specks Bloodlings in the dark, feeding feeder Small as we can imagine, nothing feebler Look far, look close, just so you look No end in sight of the sight we took In forever's direction, there is no end Outer space or inner space, we will ascend For as big is big, small is smaller Infinity's path bears no collar M.A. Miller 07.14.00 < !signature--> My calling before me, let quill be my offering; For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive. No microscopes, serenity ... This is a subject I've been thinking about for about 10 years ... It's been covered before, although I've never seen it in poetic form ... The question ... If infinity goes forever into space, then doesn't its physical properties allow it to be infinitely small (a la "The Incredible Shrinking Man" and Henry Hasse's short story "He Who Shrank" (1936)) [This message has been edited by MA Miller (edited 07-14-2000).] |
