In my way i will remember all the long cold dead days forever haunted by memories Of what i could have had Of that summer morn When love did spring from daffodils fragrant heads and the blackbirds wing As i look to the past And i see you there in that dress of white a tear wells in my dead eyes i rise looking down At what i was my shell in the autumn of my days i am alone with my thoughts I see the love i had Diminished to a dim light hold my soul in its place unable to leave you now But you are the past And i am a whisper on the wind no future is for me and my love as winter fast approachs The sun has gone As i gaurd the cold world its time long dead and past and i look to the stars She is out there i know For she cannot die and she eternal passes life to life alone How i miss her I miss what i was And the dreams i had When summer came upon us Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the roses falling 'Tis y |

I see the love i had Diminished to a dim light hold my soul in its place unable to leave you now But you are the past And i am a whisper on the wind no future is for me and my love as winter fast approachs The sun has gone As i gaurd the cold world its time long dead and past and i look to the stars She is out there i know For she cannot die and she eternal passes life to life alone How i miss her I miss what i was And the dreams i had When summer came upon us ------------ walter, this is beautiful touching verse of treasured memories, sometimes someone touches us in a way that never leaves us.. this poem of yours brought to mind a favorite song of mine.. it speaks of the same emotions you so perfectly express here.... ~On The Sea~ No fog clear in the moonlight The stars shine so bright now's the time I close my eyes - soft wind touch my face Cool sand upon the place where I once kissed you And held you close Now I will reach for the stars Because Oh my love, that's where you are Chorus: Though the storms of black night rage on I still see your face I still feel your lips on mine And though my heart feels all alone without you I still hear you sing to me I still hear your voice on the sea Waves crash break the silence Gulls cry a song of lament I walk on through the stormy night The air cries flash of anger Dark night enshrouds the stranger all alone without you Now I will reach for the stars Because Oh my love, that's where you are Chorus from Live Stages ~Vertical Horizon~ |

This was a very enjoyable poem to read. Sometimes the memories come to us sadly. But we cherish that we remember at all. You used some really wonderful phrases to tell of your remembering. *If the shoe fits ... the castle is yours* |
