Faded Perfume

Hot summer nights
Under stars with moonlight
A heart in flight
Taken by love’s bite

He said forever
But then, a parting letter
You should have known better
Pale cheeks could be no wetter

Love, you thought would bloom
Brings nothing but gloom
Dying alone in your tomb
For love lasted as long....
                           as faded perfume

It is a blessing to have wings for words, and passion in pen

Very well penned.
The aroma of sadness is in the words.

~Marina~

So sad, very well written.  A clever way of describing a love lost like faded perfume and faded memories that linger with it's bittersweet aroma.

Take care,

Marina,

The love may not have lasted long, but the memories sure will.  Great poem.  Such a sad picture you have painted.  Well done.

Prometheus, thank you.

Melissa, thank you.  I tried to discribe it just that way.

LW, thank you very much.  They say nothing lasts forever.  I know this didn't.

Ethome, thank you very much.  I often do that with my poetry.  Just my style I guess.

hey--this is a poem that I didn't have to try to enjoy-it's short and sweet, and one of the most expressive I've read in a while...thank you for sharing this!  p.s.- I voted 4 it!

Fire and Ice...I mean Marina...yes I Love this poem...I understand your disappointments and frustration...when you so desperately want a relationship to blossom and fulfil your dreams and desires and it fades away...very sad...I can only hope that it doesn't happen to me this time...my hope is still in place...James
