Sitting in my rocker.
Alone...wishing for someone talk to.
Trying to remember
did I eat today?
As night falls I sit, watching...
Not a soul have I seen today.
Time goes by so very slowly...another day and another...
I am old and feeble.
Is this the price I must pay?
To die here all alone
Without my loved ones near.
Wiping the endless tears from my cheeks.
I've worked so hard all of my life.
Now sitting in a rocker
all alone.
Thinking about the old days
finding myself living there.
The life I have now is just to much for me to bare.
If only I could see them
a touch, a kiss on the cheek...a voice.
My life would be complete then.
Not afraid to say good-bye.
Yet fearing deep inside my heart
I will be all alone to die.
Our lives go by so quickly
tomorrow I may be gone...
Someday it may be you....sitting
all alone...wishing...

How sad and poignant, Attyb.

Sad but true. So many of our aged are sitting and wishing tonight.

This is about my little aged neighbor. Her family never visits or calls. She is so lonely most of the time.

Touching, real, and a fact of life for many. Thanks for the piece.

Athena, your neighbor is not alone if she has you...

Athena~
A sad render that is repeated all too often in our society.

Then God sends 'earth angels' to share a heart as you have done.

Give your neighbor a *hug* from all the poets here.

Thank you all. I do spend a lot of time trying tio be there for her. It is so sad that this happens in our society. If my parents were alive nothing would keep me from them.

This reminded me of my aunt, who died last year. SHe would wait, every Friday, for me to arrive. Same chair, same look of joy, same lunch   but it didn't matter. She was lonely and just that human touch you know?
I loved this. Thanks for posting it.
