I want to call her

I want to pick up the phone
But I’d have to call collect
And that’s not what a lady
Should come to expect

I want to give her a ring
But it’s getting kind of late
My voice a little raspy
And my wit not too great

I want to buzz her line
And tell her that she’s cute
Alas the remote is lost
And the T V’s far from mute

I want to reach her extension
But I can’t find my phone
Clatter from other cubicles
Tells me I’m not alone

I want to ring her cellular
But the number on the wall
Was something, something, something
Oh darn I can’t recall

I want to dial her number
Yes! No more hesitating
But what if she’s calling me
And I haven’t got call waiting

I’ve given up on calling her
I’ll just post this poem of mine
Oh look she’s there on ICQ
I’d call her but she’s online!
