She walks slowly along the beach
The lake is easily within reach
The sand is warm on her feet
Not a soul does she meet

She looks far up ahead
Feeling like she is being led
The destination is not known
But the feeling has grown

The harbor calls out to her
Things are not as they were
Many years have now passed
Countless memories she's amassed

Once upon a time
Before she hit her prime
She walked along this path
Not knowing of the wrath

Someday it would haunt her dreams
Then the tears would come in streams
Washing over the jagged rocks
As the door to her heart slowly locks

Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.
--William Wordsworth

Oh my goodness L.W. this is so powerful and
beautiful and painful.....all these things
were felt with in the flow of your words.
The locked door.......I understand so well
we can give the advice till the waves stop
crashing...but when will we take it ourselves
**Angel Wing Hugs** my dear friend for this
piece and so much more~

I know this feeling well.  Beautiful poem.  I can't believe I missed it the first go round. Thanks to Jeffrey for bringing it back up.
