state of confusion

To Remember

Come join me for a while,
on the swing next to me,
cicadas are singing,
honeysuckle’s sweet
beneath the blue oak tree.

The moon is almost full,
delta breezes soft tonight,
the kids finally sleeping,
nowhere you have to be
so dim the porch light.

Star gazing, but not in the sky,
it’s your eyes that glitter so,
velvet touches mirror night,
casting a midnight spell
by the waxy glow.

This is what I’ll remember
when time steals life away,
if left behind in waiting,
these snapshots I shall carry
until our reunion day.

Corinne,
Shall I simply say LOVELY and get away with it...

I hope I do...
