I have never sat beside you on the couch to watch T.V. I have never said I love you or heard you say that you love me. I have never held your hand and felt our fingers intertwine. I do not wear your golden band and neither do you wear mine. I have never watched you dream nor danced with you in moonlight. Your name, I have never screamed while you loved me in the night. But I have stood across a room and listened to you laugh. |

A laugh was it or was it a giggle, what was it that took your heart? A guffaw was it or was it a chuckle, What was it that stole your soul? .... A nice poem, Tennessee Angel, short and sweet... and well written too... regards, sudhir [This message has been edited by Sudhir Iyer (edited 07-06-2000).] |

TA, there is always the present in which to say those words. Really enjoyed this piece. But I have stood across a room and listened to you laugh. A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry |

Elizabeth -- Something like that! ![]() Magnolia -- Thank you! Laughter can be such a wonderful thing. ![]() jm -- Once again you have touched my heart with your wonderful response. This one just flowed out which is very unusual for me. I think it's one of my favorites. Marge -- Thank you so much! I love the image he brings to my eyes! ![]() Mark -- Thank you so much kind sir! ![]() Sudhir -- Actually it was a chuckle. Someone said something to him and he just sort of chuckled to himself and it made me think that the woman who loves him surely treasures that chuckle. Butterflies -- Your responses are often more poetic than anything I may post. ![]() Brian -- Yes there is always the present but not always the courage. ![]() Terry -- Thank you! Thank you! ![]() James -- That was my intent. It's a poem about silent longing but not torturing longing, you know. Sort of a "Someone is lucky to have him" kind of longing. ![]() Danny -- Thank you so much for taking the time to read and respond to my piece. ![]() |
