A hush fell over the crowd As the page announced his name Once they saw him battle None would ever be the same He walked into the colluseum To the Romans chants and cheers He was a brave strong warrior Whose heart held no fears He was armed with a short sword And a simple round shield A helmet masked his face To no challenge would he yield He knew he was the chosen one To succeed Marcus Aurelius on the throne But Marcus' greedy power hungry son Never let that decision be known Fate has her own way Of turning wrong into right When they met each other To the death they would fight The gladiator fought for his slain emperor And the city known as Rome He won the people's freedom Before he left for home Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. --William Wordsworth |

Saves me having to see the film LOL Kidding, a wonderfully told poem. ~Lone Wolf~ Your poem is an epic, so very well written! I love your style. I, too have to go see that movie, I have wanted to since I saw the previews. It's my kind of movie, action and a love story. Tell me girl, will I see Russell Crowe's naked butt...or *ahem* anything else for that matter? If so, it will be $7.00 well spent! Take care, Melissa Honeybee The beauty of poetry gives me wings to fly |

Melissa, Thank you for the compliment. It is an excellent movie, please go see it!! LOL, um, sorry no naked butts here!!! I wish!!! Your money will still be well spent though. LW Poetry should surprise by a fine excess and not by singularity - it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts, and appear almo |

DA, Thank you!! It is an amazing movie and I tried my best to do it justice. Glad you enjoyed. LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |
