I admit that this isn't poetically captivating, but, it is still from the heart and I wanted to enter this belated challenge as soon as I could

~I AM~

I am a person, a woman who longs to find peace within
I wonder if I have made a difference in a world full of hatred and sorrow
I hear God's encouraging words whisper in the wind when my heart is weary
I see all the beauties of the universe sparkle in the eyes of an innocent child
I want to taste the sweet bliss of being a teacher, to inspire young minds to greatness
I am a person, a woman who longs to find peace within

I pretend that I am happy and fulfilled with the mask that I wear
I feel that with love anything is possible
I touch the stars with my soul whenever I make someone laugh
I worry far too much, for, Virgos are known worriers afterall
I cry for the person that I was, a scared little girl, lonely and abused
I am a person, a woman who longs to find peace within

I understand that in order for anyone to love me, I must first love and respect myself
I say that compassion grows in the hearts of every person, you just have to discover it's light
I dream that one day I will find happiness and a home to belong to
I try to be the best person that I can possibly be
I hope that one day, I shall find my soulmate and bask in true love forever
I am a person, a woman who longs to find peace within

Melissa~
You are much earlier than I am on this challenge...it's one that has evaded me...perhaps I don't want to know the answers   You have answered the challenge and made it well worth the wait as it was poet and beautiful!

Melissa, though belated, I do thank you for not only answering the challenge, but also for sharing a small facet of your personality behind the name.  You aspire to much, and I truly hope you find that for which you seek.

Hi there, Melissa, i have found some similarities among us....well, I am a Virgo too(30/8/80)(though people say that i am the most indifferent person they have ever met) and i have signed up to be a teacher(doing something worthwhile with my life...HA!) and will be holding the reins a few years' time...

i must thank you for sharing(though im sorry to hear of your past)..it seems to break down some barriers between the impersonal words here

btw,i have written a Singapore Acrostic...perhaps u will like to read
