In my souls shattered dreams
I still see your face,
feel your touch
haunting me, taunting me
with your absence.

Your promise of love everlasting
died in the morning rain,
washed away like dust
from summers sun scorched
trees.

Leaving me lost, leaving
me asking questions
no one can answer...
alone in the dark night
shadows.

Drifting on my sea of
denial...but still knowing
this...love freely given can
never be wrong and love shared,
never denied.

So I will go on,
and I know someday,
there will come one true
love and this will all
be

Like dust in the rain

Wow love the last line, a great image. Paula, an excellent poem, some tender emotions in this piece. I am sure that you will find a love made of solid rock and not dust. take care thanks for sharing.

A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

I loved the title. I agree with brian, excellent!

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown
