The cry goes out across the land Yet silent to all ears The pain and bitter agony; We're captive of our fears. The cry's been heard for many years As silence melts away The pain and torment of abuse We must somehow repay. And yet we fail to see the change As crime rates rise and soar We pay with pain, with broken trust Through life forevermore. So why can't people see the pain We struggle with in life? Why must the victim always pay And be the one in strife? Is our justice so long lost That as the victim cries The accused walks away in peace With lightness in his stride? < !signature--> ____ _ | __\_\_o____/_| <[___\_\_-----<---------- [This message has been edited by Musicmaker1969 (edited 07-06-2000).] |

what a wonderfully powerful statement of our times...the accused walks away in peace...how true in this mixed up world we live in |

This is pretty stunning - so true to life in many ways. The tragedy of it is that nobody sees the look of desperation on my face. Thousands and thousands of us, and we're passing one another without a look |

Wonderfully crafted! Says a lot about our day and age. 2nd stanza first line...heartd s/be heard? last stanza 2nd line...victime s/bd victim? |
