I Never Meant To Hurt You I never meant to hurt you Believe you me that was the last thing on my mind I only wanted what was best for you, for me, for us I remember when we first met, How the birds and all nature seemed to stop, letting its anthem of love ring, The earth spinning on a different axis only for us Or even when we made love How the sunrise cascaded over our naked bodies Licking the salty mixture of sweat, ocean, sand, and blood Combining to make us one, If only for a time I can now see you as you lay in my bed The moonlight illuminating the beauty that is you While the light from the fire reenacted fairy tales of long ago on it's pure canvas, You The emotions that I felt were so real, so close, so true That not even the seven seas in all their fury could have the strength to wash them away, Erasing their vision from my heart, my body, my soul At nights when I lay alone I found myself reaching out for you Reaching with heated fingers of need, want, and abandonment Lusting for a single touch from you to soothe the razor sharp knives driving through me Knives that only you can send But now that has past Leaving a stagnating swamp where our garden use to be Don't lie to me, to yourself, to your heart that you don't feel it too I can see it in your eyes as we kiss good night beneath what use to be Our sky, our stars, our Milky Way I catch a glimpse of it in your touch Withering the soul you once brought to life Causing me to close like the sensitive plant to an unsensitive touch And then you say I've changed You tell me that I am not the man you fell in love with The one that held you at night wiping sins from your eyes, Massaging your heart with my fingertips You say that I lied to you when I promised that I would never let go That our love was different, special, endless But, I didn't I will never let go of what we had, Hidden deep between the rythmic beating of my heart, In the canals reserved for memories You will always be a part of who I am For through you I learned to love differently, specially, endlessly So now my love I let you on your way, Free to take the road reserved for those that were truly loved Truly loved freely, wholly, and completely I will tie a string of gold cord around your foot, Not to trip you, But for you to find your way back to me in times of need and warmth Knowing that in me, you have found your endless |

I just know you wrote this poem for me my first true love (LOL), but as I've always told you, your poetry is magical. I love it! Keep it up, and may you find much inspiration in your life, in which you never settle. For in 20 years, may we meet face to face and say we never settled! Love you!
