LOST AND FOUND Lost among the youthful years, a mission of my own A secret quest that I was to accomplish all alone Found were new beginnings to a life beyond my view Discovered were the new horizons that I never knew Quickly lost, the notion of advantage gained for self Found were ways to make a difference in a world of wealth Lost were the idealistic ways to change the world as one Found were selfish deeds of man that could not be undone Lost was all the innocence that seemed no longer bound Discovered was the womanhood just waiting to be found Found was love so pure, it till today runs through the veins Lost were you to other goals you couldn’t even name Learned were lessons of deceit that somehow taught me good Gained were tears of sorrow and the skills of motherhood Forced upon me was the heavy burden of the night Gained were story telling times, till we turned out the light Earned was self esteem that had been lost along the way Stronger the convictions that I lived by every day Full of love my family, respect and gentle grace And love of one another clearly glowing on each face Found was that one precious goal that I was reaching for Discovered at the rainbows end right by my kitchen door Lost am I completely in the way God’s work is done And now in sorrow follow his marked footsteps toward the sun ELIZABETH SANTOS [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 06-12-2000).] |

Lizzie~ This is poignantly lovely. 'Stronger the convictions that I lived by every day' My thoughts are with you. Love you. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

The meter and flow are wonderful. The way in which you tie together the thoughts and images throughout, exquisite. A piece to learn from, on more than one level. I have been to see the world. Tasted life at every turn. And all the time your face came back to haunt me. -Chris DeBurgh |

Thought provoking and poignant piece this is , Liz... Lost, I am completely in awe of your sheer poetic force, Found, with a devotee's respect to the Almighty's work, I remain... Regards, Sudhir < !signature--> My heart is pounding, my stomach's inside out I'm feeling kind-a-shaky, my mind is full of doubt All I ever think about, is fearing fear itself, Wish I could unscrew my head and put it on the shelf Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight, Don't know what I'm looking at, the lights are all too bright My brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor Sweep 'em up. Throw 'em away, don't want 'em anymore Clouds race across the sky, day turns into night, Still there are the questions, no answers in sight Everything is twisted, everything is oh so tight, Starin' out the window, everything is just too bright Brain's about to crumble, spill out on the floor, Wish I could unscrew my head, and kick it out the door... You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange You know I'm feeling kind-a....Strange ~ Strange ~ Joe Satriani (Flying in a Blue Dream) [This message has been edited by Sudhir Iyer (edited 06-12-2000).] |

Oh, Elizabeth, we're all lost at one time or another. You said so much in this poem and I can't begin to describe how it touched me. With my thoughts and prayers, Elizabeth I'm grabbing my hat and coat I'm leaving the cat a note Quick call me a ferry boat-getting out of town! |

Liz, this is a wonderful poem. If we can keep our eyes on our star, we can never get lost, although it may seem we are. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

Wow, A wounderful poem from an inspiring poet, I really enjoyed reading it, the flow and littery was most excellent . I don't know how you manage to keep coming up with the quality poetry that you write - It's amazing . L.of.L. Tom . Insanity is a perfectly normal responce to an abnormal world -R.D.Laing.- |

The fact that you paint self-portraits make your works that much more appealing, Liz. Coirnne |
