I admit that this really isn't one of my best, but it was a poem that I just had to write to release all my emotions. I wrote it very fast, as it all poured out of me < !signature-->~NEVER AGAIN LOVE~ I shall never again love with open arms, without reservation, without fear of falling, I shall never again love like a child, innocent and forgiving, wearing my heart on my sleeve for you to break, I shall never again love the way I did you, for it is better to stay safely hidden behind these walls, that you helped me to build, my armour from joy that I am forever to be denied, better to live a lifetime of loneliness than to endure pain once more, because I once loved you Daddy, and you never loved me back, rejecting my soul, destroying my childhood dreams, a heart that can never be repaired, for, I shall never again love with open arms *By Melissa Honeybee* The beauty of poetry gives me wings to fly [This message has been edited by Melissa Honeybee (edited 06-30-2000).] |

Melsissa, My feelings changed from empathetic to strongly symphathetic....It is so heartbreaking to read of such a situation. I don't know what I would do without my " Daddy's Lil" Angel".. So sorry for the writer and her Dad. jamie Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito. - Virgil. "Yield thou not to adversity, but press on the more bravely". |

~Melissa,...first,...this IS one of your best. I mean that!!! I think letting your thoughts and feelings fall out of you like that is what it's all about. (Atleast for me). I am so glad that you got this out and posted it to share. I feel for you,...I too have no relationship with my father but in a way (for me) it's better that way. ANYWAY,...this poem is so from the heart and it makes mine ache. I do hope you open your heart to love again....it's an amazing healer. Damn good work here....gosh,...you see, I can't shut up ![]() |

Very heartfelt emotions, and very powerful, but never is an infinate word and a moment can change all things if you let it, sometimes building a fortress is not as desirable as buiding a wall, its just my opinion for what its worth. Your Friend Olias |

Melissa, having lost my Father when I was 10, it was very hard for me to read this poem. I have known people who don't (or didn't) get along with their Fathers. I envied them, becuase I never got that chance. I went through my adolescence and everything without that figure to look up to. . . I turned out alright though. . . but there are many days that I miss him. This is an excellent poem. . . but I wonder what comes between Fathers and sons and daughters. . . perhaps too many things. . . perhaps large, perhaps small. . . but, from my perspective, at least they had the chance to. . . ------------------------------------------------------ That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |

Thank you everyone for your kind replies! ![]() Sven, I am truly sorry about the loss of your father. However, mine was a cruel man who should have never been allowed to become a husband or a father. My childhood was very painful and it is a deep wound that still lives within me, even today. Check your email, my friend! Take care, Melissa Honeybee The beauty of poetry gives me wings to fly |

Melissa~ I think you are so talented! This is one of your best....I understand that your father is the first man in your life to set an example of how love should be, but in your case I think your dad showed how it wasn't supposed to be. I hurt for you, and I hope in time you will be able to recognize that it was his mistake, as well as his loss. You have a beautiful heart and I hope you let love into it....I'm rambeling aren't I? I just feel for you......and I'm sorry you are hurting ![]() Live,Love,Laugh :) ~SueB |

Liz: Thank you for understanding and for the compliment ![]() Sea: No you were not rambling at all, it shows that you care about how I feel and how I am trying to express myself. Thank you so much for the support and for understanding, I appreciate it, it helps to rebuild my confidence. Someday, I may tear down my walls and allow a man to love me, but, first I have to learn to love myself and repair the damage that has been done to my heart. I am hopeful though. However, this poem stands as how I feel at the moment Take care, Melissa Honeybee The beauty of poetry gives me wings to fly |
