(smile)

Timepiece

I see a face, its ringed with gold
Its all thats left for me to hold
I wear it to remind me his
memories still find me

More a 'do'er than a 'thinker; clocks and watches were his tinker
pleasure came frome simple things
to free a cog, adjust a spring

He always knew how precious time can be
his hair once red. turned gray, then white
unsteady hands and failing sight where once was strong and bold came withered`, weak and old

he asked for nothing,
that's all he had
his final years too brief too sad
I knew so little of his life
and less about my mom, his wife

He taught me just how precious time can be
I wear his watch, don a miss a day
and when the hours slip a way
I look and see the faces
that time and age replaces

i promise that I'll find the time
to give to those who's life meets mine
the love that I missed out upon
when I became an orphan son
and tell them all how precious time can be

Damn, he IS good.  I feel like crying...

The tragedy of it is that nobody sees the look of desperation on my face. Thousands and thousands of us, and we're passing one another without a look of recognition.

Drag him out of the dark please, I'd love to read more of his poetry.
