i want to be the green that old hands put in the back seat and take home to color living the ever constant threat of dying i want to be the green on the back of the nursery truck that will transform the ownership of a hope filled piece of dirt into a home i want to be the green in the packages on sale ten for a dollar clutched in the i get to plant my very first garden hand of a child i want to be the green that holds up the happy faces of the sunflowers that wave to me from the back of the take me home and fill each room with smiles car i want to be the green of the vine that miniature honey suckled warriors thrust and parry their swords to guard with wary delight the trumpet's crown i want to be the green of the garden in which you seek refuge peace and inner healing in this strip your soul bare world i want to be the green you are on the right road go only forward not back never turning red or yellow light i want to be the green... If that's the case, then I want to be green too, I really, really love this poem, it's great. The tragedy of it is that nobody sees the look of desperation on my face. Thousands and thousands of us, and we're passing one another without a look of recognition. |
