Ok, this is not my best piece, but it has a lot of meaning to it, and I want to share it with you all.

Deep below the deep, dark earth
There are great treasures, untold
But you must be willing to fight and dig
To find the hidden gold

On the surface, there's naught to be seen
Of the treasures hidden below
For those who walk right over it
Walk over great beauty unknown

For the one good soul that's willing to dig
There are great treasures, untold
For those who take a closer look
Will find the hidden gold

Isn't it sad to think of the times
You walked over treasures untold
Because you wouldn't take a closer look
To find the hidden gold?

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde
"The robbed that smiles steals something from the thief" -Shakespea

It's a wonderful verse LoveBug, and so full of meaning!  Your poem itself is a treasure, for to read between the lines is the gift you've shared.  Too often we don't delve deep enough to find these treasures in life you speak of ... I'm glad I've found this one (and didn't have to dig!)

Best wishes,
/Kit

oh yes this is great and the inter meaning here i love it so. i seem to think of it as your heart and people walk by it as its not there to see the true beauty that lies with in.

I loved this poem. You're a very good writer. I can identify with the poem, because in my lifetime, I have walked over thousands of treasure troves

LoveBug, this poem has a good message for the youth of our day.  Sometimes the best things in life are only found when a person takes the time to travel unfamiliar paths and explore those hidden places within each of us that hide who we really are.
~~nice writing~~
